Company and Staff Experience
APS processes both First-Class and Standard local and national
mail. In our Chicago plant, we commingle, on a daily basis,
approximately 1.3 million metered, pre-canceled stamp and
permit First-Class letter size mail pieces. This mail comes
in and goes out the same day. We also process approximately
300,000 Standard pieces on a weekly basis.
Advance Presort Service is at the leading edge of presorting
and bar-coding of mail, with 25 years experience in the ever-changing
world of mail processing. We have in-house the largest amount
of state-of-the-art equipment within a local presort bureau.
The superiority of our Siemens equipment allows us to barcode
approximately 85-90% of our mail on a nightly basis whether
it is metered, stamped, or permit. In fact, industry wide
it has been proven that Siemens machinery causes less damage
to the mail during processing than the other brands of multi-lines.
We utilize remote video encoding equipment to barcode mail
that is not initially coded on our MLOCR's. The Net Code remote
video encoding equipment digitally video lifts an address
from a mail piece and transmits it via telephone lines to
an off-site encoding facility. The address is then manually
encoded and the data returned to APS. When the mail piece
is again processed, the identifying fluorescent barcode sprayed
on the back of the envelope from the initial run is read and
the correctly assigned 11-digit delivery point barcode is
sprayed.
Our equipment is maintained by a staff of 5 certified MLOCR
technicians who are on site during all hours of operations.
We maintain all replacement parts required for repairs, except
for the multi-line reader itself. In the unlikely event that
all of our equipment or our facility is destroyed, we own
another physical plant on Knox Avenue and we have an agreement
with our MLOCR vendor to supply us with the replacement equipment
within 10 days.
ON a daily basis mailings are tested for barcode accuracy
and quality. Our MLOCRs are equipped with barcode verifiers
and are MASS certified by the USPS once a year. We have the
FastForward system on our multi-lines for those customers
who choose to use it as a method of satisfying the move update
requirements mandated by the Post Office.
